Children's Corner Lucy Dress Sew-Along Contest
We have the votes in from our fourth and final judge. Just a reminder, a first place vote earns the designer 3 points, second place 2 points, and third place 1 point. All of the points will be added up and the
designer with the most points will win a $50 gift certificate to
Whimsical Fabric.
Our final judge is the creator of the Children's Corner Lucy pattern, Lezette Thomason!
Lezette
Thomason, a native Tennessean, has been co- owner of Children’s Corner,
a company that designs and publishes dressmaker’s patterns for
children’s clothes, for 36 years. After college she taught mathematics,
so that when she began to show mothers how to sew for their children
she already had several years of teaching experience. Lezette wrote the
Children’s Corner’s English Smocking in 1981. Lezette is both a
national and international teacher having taught at Martha Pullen School
from 1991-2013 and in 1997 taught at Sewing in the Blue Mountains in
Australia. In 2004 AND 2005 she taught at Cape May Sewing Capers and
hosted a very small school in Nashville called Picture Perfect
Workshop. Besides teaching for Children’s Corner, she has taught at many
other shops and numerous smocking guilds around the country, including
the SAGA National Convention. At Children’s Corner, Lezette drafts the
patterns and writes and illustrates the instructions. She has written
four instructional books – Victorian Elegance, 1996, That Patchwork
Place, Dolly’s Wardrobe, 1998, Children’s Corner, Dolly’s Friends, 1999,
Children’s Corner and Ideas from Children’s Corner, 2007. She now has a
new pattern booklet, More Dolly’s Wardrobe. . She has been a part of
the BERNINA Ambassador program for 12 years. She is also a contributing
writer to Sew Beautiful Magazine, Creative Needle, Australian Smocking
and Australian Inspirations. She has a happily married daughter, Anne.
Lezette and her wonderful husband, Michael reside in Nashville.
Before I share Lezette's vote, I would like to share what she had to say about all the the entries. Lezette told me, "All are beautifully done. It is so hard to vote." And I agree fully. ALL of the designers did a fantastic job and I am so proud of each and every one of them!
